Exeter pool and bus station now to cost nearly £40m

It's been revealed that the cost of Exeter's controversial new leisure centre and bus station is to soar by nearly eight million pounds.

The city council are blaming Brexit for the increase in the cost of St Sidwell's Point to nearly 40 million.

A budget of 32 million for the project - which was already much higher than the £20 million originally planned - is fully funded, but the council will have to borrow the extra money.

Councillors will be asked to approve the extra spending later this month, but the opposition Conservatives are calling for the project to be scaled down instead.
