Exmouth seafront attractions to stay this year

No change - again!

Temporary attractions on the site of the former fun park on Exmouth seafront will stay in place this year – with more set to be provided on land formerly used as a car park, East Devon councillors have decided.

But a temporary car park with 50 spaces at the former Railway Carriage Café will go. Officers will research alternative options for that land.

Exmouth Queen’s Drive Delivery Group also suggests new temporary ideas including pop-up events, beach volleyball, bungee jumping and extending the dinosaur play park. They also say current seating could replaced by picnic benches, and attractions should be aimed at children over 10, teenagers and young adults. The'd prefer food and beverage outlets to be provided by local traders.

The attractions at the former fun park only have planning permission until March 2022, with no further extension likely.

While phase 1 of the overall Queen’s Drive project – the realignment of the road and the car park – has been completed, and phase 2 – the watersports centre, restaurant and shops  –  should be fully open early this year, the final phase of the regeneration is as unclear as ever.

There may be more news after a meeting on 25 January 25.
