First clash in two years
Around 180 officers will be stationed across Exeter, Plymouth, and the train network to manage the sold-out clash between Exeter City and Plymouth Argyle at St James Park tomorrow night (October 23rd) at 8 p.m.
Both teams are tied on points in League One, making this a crucial match.
This is the first time the two sides have met in more than two years.
Chief Inspector Victoria Richards says preparations have been underway since August.
"We've been working closely with our partners, including the British Transport Police and both clubs, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
The vast majority of football fans are a pleasure for us to work with, and we've taken every measure available to us to help deliver a safe and friendly event. Anybody who is intent on causing trouble will be quickly and robustly dealt with."
"Similar operations are expected for the second Devon Derby match at Home Park later this season in April.
