Duke managed to get through a fence before falling in
A specialist rescue team in North Devon were called an unusual incident yesterday morning [5 October], when a horse fell into 12ft deep pool.
The large horse, Duke, managed to get through a fence before falling in.
Barnstaple Fire Station added: “The owner was there holding his head above water so our first priority was to get two of our crew in dry suits and personal flotation jackets and relieve the owner and help the horse."
Officers used specialist equipment borrowed from a local farmer to help safely hoist Duke out of the pool and onto a nearby field.
A vet was then able to give him a once over before he was walked back to his stable for a warm bath and food.
