First signing for Exeter City's new manager

Defender Aaron Martin, 28, moves to St James Park from Oxford United

New Exeter City FC manager Matt Taylor has made his first signing since taking the manager's job.  Aaron Martin, 28, has played for Southampton, Birmingham City, Yeovil Town, Coventry City and, most recently, Oxford United. The 28 year-old's suffered Achilles tendon problems in his two years at Oxford and his two-year contract came to an end with the 2017/18 season.

Matt Taylor said: "Aaron is a player with a lot of experience playing at a higher level. He is a good age and is highly motivated to drive the team on to the next level. He is a strong, tall, ball playing centre half and it is important that we have a lot of options defensively. I'll be looking to boost our defensive ranks further over the next few weeks. The player’s attitude and character are important. I’m bringing in not just good players, but good characters to the club.”

Mr Taylor also says that his new signing will bring great physicality into the City defence, but is also comfortable in possession, as the City manager looks to strengthen his options for the upcoming campaign.
