Flood risk residents offered shelter at County Hall

People in eighteen properties in Exeter have been warned to expect flooding this morning.


The river Exe is expected to reach its highest point at 9.00 and the occupants of several riverside properties have been offered shelter in a rest centre set up at County Hall.

They include homes near the Mill on the Exe, and some on Mill Lane and Mill Yard in  Countess Weir.

The worst affected area of Devon so far has been Braunton where dozens of homes and businesses have been flooded.

Flood warnings are currently in place for the river Exe from Tiverton to Exeter including Bickleigh.. the Exe and Culm at Stoke Canon... and the lower Exe including the quay area in Exeter.

There's also a warning for the river Clyst from Broadclyst to Clyst St Mary.

The A396 is closed due to flooding in areas including Stoke Canon and Bickleigh.
