Heritage campaigners in Chudleigh are fighting to save the Georgian door of a hotel in the town centre.
The door of the White Hart Hotel is also the oldest surviving artefact from a major fire in Chudleigh in 1807.
But the owner of the hotel's won planning permission to replace it with a modern glazed version as he converts the building into a takeaway restaurant.
The Chudleigh and District Amenity Society thinks the issue should have been referred to Teignbridge Council's conservation officer and that the granting of planning permission was an error.
They're working with the hotel's owner to try and get the door protected.
