Historic city graveyard to be restored

A neglected graveyard in Exeter looks set to be restored - and turned into a heritage attraction.

The Dissenters' Graveyard, off Magdalen Street, was in use from about 1750 to 1850 and was used for burying people who disagreed with the Church of England, and formed separate congregations.

A steering group has now been formed, comprising local historians and members of the community - they're going to lease the graveyard from the owner, and carry out restoration and landscaping work.

They hope to allow the public to visit it as a work in progress during Heritage open days in September.
