Information wanted on unprovoked Dawlish assualt

Police are appealing for witnesses following an unprovoked assault in Dawlish last weekend which left a woman and a man injured.

Two men and a woman were walking up Mount Pleasant Road in Dawlish last Saturday night between 9.20pm and 10pm when the incident took place.

They were on the zebra crossing when a red Nissan Micra drove at them dangerously, causing them to jump out of the way.

The 21-year-old woman suffered a broken ankle as a result.

Shortly afterwards the car returned, along with a black Ford Focus and another Nissan Micra, and a number of men and women got out of the vehicles and subsequently chased after and assaulted the group.

One of the victims, a 32-year-old man from Teignmouth, suffered heavy bruising to his face and a suspected fractured cheekbone.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward, saying that this was an unprovoked attack.
