Driver arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving
A pedestrian has died after being hit by Ilfracombe's land train.
The collision in Hillsborough car park on Friday at around 5.15pm took place outside the vehicle’s storage facility, when the land train wasn't in operation on its route
A local man in his fifties became trapped by the vehicle and died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
The car park was closed while police investigated and didn't reopen until Saturday morning.
A 61-year-old man from the town was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed until Friday 3 November, pending further enquiries.
Police are asking for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage that could help with enquiries to call them on 101 quoting log 658 of 15/9/23.
