Man jailed for Exeter murder

Jason Carr will serve more than 14 years behind bars for Sarah Fuller's murder

An Exeter man has been jailed for murdering his girlfriend, after they returned home from having dinner out.

Jason Carr, 35, from Chancellors Way, was charged with the murder of Sarah Fuller at her home back in April.

At Exeter Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to life in prison, to serve at least 14 years and 2 months.

The judge said the mother of two had suffered "a terrible death".

Police say they received a call from Carr from a shop in Pinhoe at around 4.30am on 17 April reporting that he had strangled Ms Fuller at a property in Chancellors Way. Emergency services attended the address where, sadly, she was confirmed dead.

Detective Inspector Gregg Dawe, from the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “This was a very sad case which resulted in the death of a mother of two. Carr was believed to be a lodger at the home of Ms Fuller at the time of the incident and admitted to the offence from the outset."

He added: “I would like to thank Sarah’s family and friends for their cooperation and integrity throughout the past few months and I hope that today’s outcome goes some way to bringing an element of closure to Sarah’s family, including her young children.”
