Man jailed for Torquay sex attack

Lukasz Dach will then be deported

A Polish man who sexually assaulted a woman he'd followed through Torquay town centre at night has been sent to prison.

Lukasz Dach, 24, dragged his victim into a dark alley where he then assaulted her.

He was identified through CCTV images, Exeter Crown Court was told. He had seen the 25-year-old woman in Union Square after she left friends following a night out on Saturday 8 August. The woman's screams led to a vehicle stopping, and the attacker backing off.

In an impact statement, she said: "I now have panic attacks when I am close to people. I feel like a shell of my old self. I will still be living with this fear and this change in my life for a long time to come."

Judge Timothy Rose told Dach: "You left her sobbing and hysterical, and in her words, feeling gross, dirty and violated. It has had dreadful consequences and changed her life."

Mr Dach of Morgan Avenue, Torquay, who pleaded guilty to assault by penetration, was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison. He will be deported once he completes his sentence and will also be placed on the UK sex offenders' register for life.
