Lifeboat called to help
A man stranded on a sandbank on the River Exe on Monday evening had to be taken ashore by lifeboat.
A number of people rang 999 to ask for the coastguard, leading to Exmouth's RNLI crews being alerted at 8.44 p.m.
The inshore lifeboat headed out shortly after and quickly located the man.
In a statement, Exmouth's RNLI team said: "The casualty was helped on board the lifeboat and taken to the safety of shore where he was seen by the Coastguard Rescue Team. He was uninjured and did not require medical attention."
The volunteer lifesavers were led by inshore lifeboat helm Henry Mock and crew James Searle and Sarah Pennicard, assisted by an H.M. Coastguard Rescue Team from Dawlish.
Other Exmouth RNLI volunteers involved were Mike Gall, Mark Sansom, Robert Thompson, Nick Wright and Jake Richards.
