Man stabbed in Topsham

Boy, 16, arrested for GBH with intent

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in Topsham.

He was attacked in Topsham in Majorfield Road, off Fore Street, between 8.15pm and 8.30pm on Friday 5 January.

The victim, who is in his thirties, had gone to meet an individual who was selling a computer.

Having left his vehicle, he was approached from behind and stabbed in the arm and hand. He managed to flee the scene and went to the RD&E Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Police quickly arrested a 16-year-old boy from Exeter on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been released on police bail until Friday 5 April, pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Michelle Westlake said: “The public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area. This incident, while rare, will understandably cause concern in the community.

“Neighbourhood officers have been conducting house-to-house enquiries and have been speaking to concerned members of the public.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Majorfield Road, Fore Street or Holman Way around the time of the incident. We are specifically interested in speaking to a woman in a long coat as a potential witness who was seen in the area.

“Anyone who has information including CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to contact police quoting 50240004032.”
