The winning sausage, Devon Devil, gets pride of place on the Butchers at Darts Farm counter, with £1 from each pound in weight sold being donated to the charity.
Dozens submitted entries to the competition, with some very wacky and wonderful flavour suggestions, but it was the Devon Devil sausage (a tasty combination of pork, apple, cider and Crediton Quickes Cheese), that topped the taste test.
Mr Caines was amongst the judging panel.
The winner, Debbie Norton, wins a year’s worth of sausages, and within an hour of judging the Devon Devil sizzler was on sale at The Butchers at Darts Farm, with £1 from every pound in weight sold going towards Devon’s air ambulances.
The two highly-commended runners up, the Herby Hen and the Pig in a Pear Tree, also made for some tough competition, but their creators needn’t be too disappointed at missing out on top prize as all entrants to the competition can expect to receive a voucher for six sausages of their choice from the Butchers at Darts Farm counter.
