A programme of investment in minor flood prevention work has been agreed this week by Devon county councillors.
One point three million pounds will be spent in high risk areas including Cullompton and Axminster, with the work targeting places where large numbers of properties were affected by the flooding last year.
The council's also contributing money towards the planning and implementation of flood protection schemes in Feniton and Whimple.
The investment is in addition to the 25 million pound defences to be built in Exeter.
