Homelessness in Exeter is just going to get worse, according to the local branch of the charity The Big Issue.
They claim spending cuts are leading to hostels closing and support organisations losing funding, while benefit cuts hit vulnerable people.
David Morgan, team leader for the Big Issue in Exeter, says it's particularly difficult for women, as there are no female-only hostels and some would rather sleep on the streets than share with men.
Meanwhile the charity are appealing for more volunteers to help their work locally. They'd like to hear from anyone who'd like to work directly with the vendors, help run the office, post information on social media or spread the word about what the Big Issue team do. All necessary training will be provided.
