Exeter City Football Club is to apply for formal recognition as a museum - as it prepares to set up displays of its heritage around St James Park.
The club has secured grant funding to create exhibitions based on the research from the History of St James Park project.
There will also be sections for fans' memorabilia, and collections held by former players.
The initiative involves the club's Supporters Trust working with Exeter University.
