Council says the economic benefits outweigh concerns
Objections against the development poured in, with Tony Bennett, from Wild Woodbury, saying the plans would be a huge blow to the environment as it sits within one of the most highly protected and scientifically important areas of countryside in Europe.
Landowners Clinton Devon Estates though said the plans will result in a major boost for the local economy while at the same time protecting the environment for the benefit of people and wildlife.
East Devon District Council approved the plans as despite it being a departure from the Local Plan, the wider economic benefits associated with the expansion of the business and its specialist and highly skilled nature outweigh any impacts on the landscape.
