Police are pursuing several new leads as they investigate the 1997 murder of Exwick schoolgirl Kate Bushell, following a fresh appeal for information this week.

She was found dead in a field after going out to walk a neighbour's dog near her home.

Police have never closed the case, and on Monday they launched a major public appeal as the the 20th anniversary of Kate’s murder approaches.

In the next 24 hours, almost 100 calls and messages came into the investigation team via the incident room and online police portal.

There has also been huge interest on social media from the public with more than 60,000 views for the public appeal films.
