No confidence vote about Police Commissioner delayed

A motion of no confidence in Devon and Cornwall's police and crime commissioner Alison Hernandez will be discussed by the county council's cabinet in September.

Liberal Democrat councillor Alistair Dewhirst wants their Chief Executive to write to the Home Secretary, requesting she's removed from her position.

But the authority, meeting yesterday, has decided a more informed decision can be made by the cabinet, rather than the full council, in the autumn.

The Police and Crime Commissioner says she has made 24 million pounds available to increase police officer numbers and she's calling on councillors to work with her to ensure they get the best out of the police.
