Severe weather has caused disruption along the stretch
A passenger has suffered minor injuries after a wave crashed into a train in Dawlish this lunchtime [16 January].
The British Transport Police says four windows were smashed during the incident at around midday.
GWR, which operated the service, said in a statement, “The 1057 from Exmouth to Paignton has been damaged by sea debris. The train has moved now moved forward and the damaged carriage taken out of service.
“The 1052 Paignton to Paddington service has a train fault between Teignmouth and Dawlish. The fault which has developed on this train has yet to be investigated.”
The severe weather and tide conditions along Dawlish means disruption is expected until around 4pm. Full service updates can be found here.
