It started yesterday afternoon.

At the height of the blaze yesterday (Tuesday 9th July), twelve fire crews were at the scene on Shirburn Road.

It's thought to have started in a shed and spread to the back of a property, before spreading to neighbouring terraced houses.

In a statement, Torbay Council said: "Officers from Torbay Council were onsite last night and into the morning, assisting the Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service surveying the scene, securing the road and assisting those that were displaces.

8 adults and 3 children were displaced, most went to stay with family and friends but Torbay Council provided temporary accommodation for one.

This morning we have been back on site gathering relevant information and offering support to those affected.  Those displaced are a mixture of owner-occupiers and tenants and Landlords are currently working with the tenants to identify suitable alternative accommodation. We are helping the others."
