Police name Alphington road crash victim

Emily Brewster was 19

Police were called to the area under the railway bridge - near Exe Bridges at 9.20pm on Saturday 15th December to reports of the crash involving a car and a pedestrian. 

Emily Brewster suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to the RD&E for treatment. She was later transferred to Derriford hospital in Plymouth, where she died on 19th December.

Emily’s family have paid the following tribute saying she: “was a much loved daughter, sister and granddaughter. Emily will be greatly missed by all of her family, friends and anyone who had the pleasure to meet her. 

“A very caring and helpful person who put others before herself. Our lives will never be the same again. A member of our family left the house and never returned. Emily will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts.”

The driver of the car fled the scene and was located a short time later following searches by the dog unit. 

A 26-year-old man from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs, driving a motor vehicle dangerously and being the driver of a vehicle which failed to stop after a road accident. He has since been released on police bail until 13 January 2019.
