"Pray for Plymouth" plea

Several shot dead; others injured

The number of people killed in a major incident in Plymouth on Thursday evening has yet to be confirmed, but it is now known that several are dead and others are being treated for serious injuries.

It's thought Devon's two air ambulances, two more from other areas, joined South West Ambulance Service in treating casualties after a shooting in Biddick Drive, Keyham, in the north west of the city just after 6 p.m.

Plymouth Moor View MP Jonny Mercer, has asked for the city to be remembered in people's thoughts and prayers.

Home secretary Priti Patel has Tweeted: "The incident in Plymouth is shocking and my thoughts are with those affected."

Police believe the incident is now contained. It is not believed to be terror-related.

Around 9.30 p.m. police sources confirmed the incident. They said: "We are appealing to the public not to speculate or share pictures of the scene on social media or anywhere else."

Local reports suggest five people could have been killed, including the perpetrator. Armed police and specialist trained hazardous incident medics attended.
