Residents of Ottery St Mary are expected to be out in force at a public meeting this evening, called to discuss the impending loss of inpatient beds and the minor injuries unit at the town's hospital.
It's part of a reorganisation by the local NHS which will also see beds lost at Axminster and Crediton hospitals.
The local NHS says fewer beds are needed these days because people stay in hospital for shorter times and can be cared for in their own homes.
But local residents are deeply concerned about the proposals.
