Snow and ice warning issued for Devon

The alert comes into place from midnight tonight

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice, which comes into effect from midnight tonight (Wednesday 10th February).

A combination of light rain, snow and icy patches could bring some disruption to travel during Thursday night and Friday morning, says the Exeter based Met Office.

Chief Meteorologist Steve Ramsdale, said: “Overnight temperatures will be notably low through the week, especially in areas with lying snow. Daytime temperatures will also be cold, only reaching 1 or 2 degrees Celsius for many early in the week. With strong winds as well the wind chill will make it feel much colder.”

What to expect

  • Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services
  • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
