Three people on board boat taking on water
Three people have been rescued from a speedboat that had broken down off Exmouth and was taking on water.
The coastguard received a 999 call on Sunday afternoon, and quickly alerted the town's RNLI to the incident about a mile and a half from the lifeboat station.
Exmouth RNLI volunteers were tasked this afternoon to attend a report of three persons on board a broken down speedboat that was taking on water.
Both Exmouth's lifeboats, the inshore craft and all-weather vessel took part in the rescue. The inshore lifeboat reached the stricken speedboat first, found the people on board were safe, and then towed them back to shore at Belshers slipway.
The operation took about two hours from first alert around 2.20 p.m.
Among the RNLI volunteers taking part were: Guy Munnings, Henry Mock and Ed Thomas, Roy Stott, Harry Griffin, Robert Thompson, Sarah Pennicard, James Edge, Mark Sansom, Liam Pessell, Roger Jackson, James Searle, John Dinsdale, Nick Wright, Neil Cannon, Matt Bragg and Ed Steele.
