Exeter streets underwater, but North Devon worse affected
Storm Angus has hit Devon.
The north of the county has been affected worse. Police declared a major incident in South Molton at quarter past 4 this morning. Deep and fast-flowing water went through a residential park. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue worked with the Coastguard and police to evacuate some residents and make sure the rest were safe, Just before six, the rain stopped and the water levels quickly dropped.
Around Exeter, Mid and East Devon a number of roads closed. Parts of Pinhoe and Whipton were badly hit. The A30 westbound between the A35 exit for Honiton and junction 29 for the M5 was closed in the early hours. The Met Office - which is located at junction 29 - still has a yellow warning for rain and strong winds still in place.
Police ask motorists not to drive through floodwater - and to take extra care because of the risk of debris being brought down by high winds.
