Thousands of homes and businesses across northern, central and west Devon are being promised superfast broadband, after the announcement of a new contract with a specialist provider.
The local partnership CDS has signed a seven million pound deal with the superfast wireless broadband company Airband.
CDS say it'll benefit 13 thousand rural homes and businesses in some of the hardest-to-reach areas of the county.
The equipment is designed with Devon's landscape and terrain in mind and has been successfully tried out on Dartmoor and Exmoor
It uses wireless technology to deliver a superfast connection where fibre is not available by transmitting a signal to a small radio receiver and then running a cable into the building, which connects to a router and completes the link.
