SWAST failing to get to most urgent calls in target time

Figures from NHS England reveal paramedics took an average of nearly 10 minutes to get to those patients deemed to be the most life-threatening during March - the national target time is 7 minutes.

Across the UK the average response time was 8 minutes and 22 seconds.

However, South Western Ambulance Service Trust improved on its figures from the end of last year when paramedics took more than 10 minutes to get to the most serious cases.
