Devon and Cornwall Police have said that a terrorism investigation in Exminster last year cost them in excess of £1 million.
Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act reveal that the counter-terrorism operation, led by the Metropolitan Police, cost our force £1.1 million.
The operation in Exminster led to the arrest of a 30-year-old former Royal Marine on suspicion of being involved in the acts of terrorism.
The full scale of the investigation, which lasted 18 days, has now been revealed. It involved 35 forces across the UK, almost 34,000 office hours and over 70 miles of cordon tape.
Devon and Cornwall Police say they will now be submitting their claim to the Metropolitan Police and they are confident it will be reimbursed by the end of the financial year.
