'Bubbly' Amy made people happy

The family of a woman killed in a crash on the M5 near Exeter last weekend have paid tribute to her.

Amy Austin, 28, from Torquay, died after being taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital following the collision between her Vauxhall Corsa and a BMW 1 series near junction 31 of the southbound carriage of the motorway on Sunday evening.

Her family said: “It's hard to put into words how amazing Amy was. She was a hilarious person and loved making people happy.

“Amy's bubbly energy lit up every room, she was definitely the glue that held our family together after our mum passed away in 2014.

“She adored the outdoors, she'd regularly drive to Dartmoor and other nature reserves for nature photography. Her patience meant she always got the perfect shot.

“She was also an incredible baker and would deliver cookies to everyone. She even walked from Torquay to Newton Abbot once, when her car was in the garage, to ensure her customer received their order.

“She's going to be greatly missed by her family and hundreds of her friends and colleagues.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was travelling in the area who may have relevant dashcam footage, is asked to call police on 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting log number 875 of 12 December 2021.
