A former presenter of both of the south west's leading regional TV news programmes has died.
Chris Rogers joined TSW, the area's commercial TV station, as political editor at its inception in 1982, before switching to the BBC in 1990, where he frequently presented the nightly magazine show Spotlight.
He stayed with the BBC as a political editor and reporter until 2008, regularly presenting its weekly politics programme in the region.
During his time in journalism, he covered six general elections and interviewed every prime minister from James Callaghan through to Gordon Brown.
At the time of his retirement, the BBC said: "During the Foot and Mouth outbreak Chris presented a live Close Up special. He did a masterly interview with very little research or time to gather his thoughts.
"Another outstanding moment was his interview with [Exeter MP] Ben Bradshaw about Defra fishing licences, a piece of journalism that won Chris a BBC Ruby award.
BBC South West announced his death on Tuesday.
