Suspects remanded in custody
Two Afghan nationals have appeared in court charged with the rape of a woman in Plymouth.
31-year-old Hashmat Miakhel and Sayed Hoshmand, who is 19, appeared before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court yesterday afternoon, [Tuesday 28 April.]
Both men are accused of raping a woman at a residential property in the Sherford area in the early hours of Sunday 26 April.
Both men have been remanded in custody and will appear before Plymouth Crown Court on Monday 1 June 2026.
Detective Inspector Katy Deer said: “We understand the concern an incident such as this may cause, however, as court proceedings are now active, I ask the public not to speculate and respect the legal process.”
