They're winched to safety
A walker has been winched to safety after falling from cliffs in East Devon.
Both Exmouth lifeboats, an inshore craft and all-weather vessel, took part in the rescue after the RNLI was called by the coastguard at 6.25 p.m. on Friday.
Reports were that someone had fallen from the cliffs between Otter Cove and Budleigh Salterton on the south west coastal path.
Just before 7 p.m. a further report came that a member of the public had heard shouting coming from the cliffs at the eastern side of Straight Point, Exmouth, leading both lifeboats to head to that area.
The stranded casualty was located soon afterwards having fallen some distance down the cliff.
The all-weather lifeboat was able to provide flood lighting to help the recovery. A coastguard rescue helicopter was called in to help, arriving just before 8 p.m.
The crew of the helicopter winched the walker from the cliff and to safety. Although they appeared uninjured, they were assessed by the coastguard rescue team in case they needed precautionary medical attention.
Exmouth and Beer Coastguard Rescue Teams also worked on the emergency.
