Woman dies in collision with bus

Driver bailed after arrest

A woman has died after being hit by a bus as she was walking in Plymouth city centre.

The collision involved a Plymouth City Bus in Western Approach at about 6.20pm on Sunday.

The pedestrian, who was in her fifties, died at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to locate next of kin.No other injuries were reported.

A 53-year-old man from Plymouth has been bailed after being arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.

Police would especially like to speak with passengers who were on the bus, and to the driver of a Ford Fiesta who may have witnessed the collision.
