Youth project's success in tackling knife crime

The results of a project to tackle knife crime in Exeter will be announced at a conference in the city today.

A local group, SOS Global, have received funding from the Home Office for their anti-knife crime intitiative.

They say they've developed a grass-roots project for young people, designed to tackle violent and anti-social behaviour in general, and provide 'pathways' enabling them to avoid gang culture.

Today the group are due to present the result of the programme, which they say  has been supported by key officials and organisations, and has made a real difference.

The conference, at the Exeter Guildhall, takes place this afternoon, and the superintendent in charge of policing Exeter, and the Police and Crime Commissioner, are among the guest speakers.
