Crooked cops sacked

Duo lied in court

Two Devon and Cornwall police officers have been thrown out of the force for gross misconducted after the made up evidence they presented in court following an arrest they'd made in 2018.

Cornwall cops PC Kenneth Anscombe and PC Daniel Care were found guilty by at an indpedent police misconduct hearing of breaching standard of behaviours in respect of honesty, integrity authority, respect, courtesy duties and discreditable conduct. They've been sacked without notice and their police careers are over.

The public hearing took place following allegations that the officers attended an incident in Penzance in October 2018 where they made an arrest. Both officers then made statements which contained false information and PC Anscombe gave false evidence at court.

Following the five-day public hearing, the panels has sent their details to the College of Policing barred list, preventing them from working in policing again.

Deputy chief constable Jim Nye said: " We expect high standards from our officers whether on or off duty. A police officer's character and conduct on and off duty must always be exemplary to maintain public trust and confidence.

"Through their actions, they have undermined public confidence in the police force, therefore dismissal was the right and proper outcome.”

"We will not tolerate such behaviours and conduct that falls below our standards will be dealt with robustly."
