Evidence submitted in Genette Tate murder inquiry

It's reported that a file of evidence against a man suspected of murdering east Devon schoolgirl Genette Tate nearly 40 years ago has been submitted to prosecutors.

Convicted child killer Robert Black has long been a key suspect in the disappearance of 13 year old Genette from Aylesbeare in 1978.

He'd been interviewed in prison, but at that time the Crown Prosecution Service said there was insufficient evidence against him.

Detectives have continued gathering data, including information from two new witnesses - however Black died in prison in January, before they were ready to submit it.

They're now hoping the CPS will decide that this set of  evidence would have been enough to charge Black with Genette's murder.
