Exeter College hosts first garden party

It was to celebrate achievements of vocational students

The event held in the grounds of the Hele Road building celebrated students’ excellent results in vocational and BTEC subjects with a speech from the principal John Laramy, certificates and of course tea and cake.

These subjects offer a more hands on approach to study, with a continuous assessment throughout the course rather than an exam at the end of it

Nationally, vocational students don’t have a formal results day like their A level peers, instead the grades are released gradually throughout the summer, however the college have decided to change that by hosting it's first garden party today.

This year the college celebrated nine students being recognised at the national BTEC Awards with students bringing home trophies like Student of the Year in Science, Hospitality, Travel and Tourism.

John Laramy, the Principal of Exeter College said they wanted to create something that replicates the A level results day for their vocational students and hopes over the years the event will grow.
