'Song for Lily' tribute by rugby player's mother features Show of Hands

Lily Partridge was 22 when she died. Her organs have helped 50 other people.

Topsham folk stars have helped Liz Partridge record a song in memory of her daughter, who died playing rugby at this time last year

A young Topsham Exonians rugby player who suffered a fatal head injury last December has saved the lives of four people and helped around 50 others to live a better life.  When Lily Partridge passed away on 7 December, she was just 22.

But she carried two organ donor cards. Her gift of life has not just help others. Her story has encouraged people to sign the organ donor register. In fact, since Lily died, more than 20,000 people have joined the organ donor register in the Devon and Exeter postcode areas. Her parents Liz and Jeff believe that  people should opt out of organ donation like they do in Wales, rather than opt in.

Over the last 12 months her heartbroken family has worked tirelessly to raise around £30,000 for local charities which Lily supported.

On Sunday morning on Radio Exe, we played the song written and performed by Liz Partridge and produced by Steve Knightley from Show of Hands.

The song can now be heard and dowloaded on the Show of Hands website: www.showofhands.co.uk . The family hope people will listen and donate to the chosen charities which include Age UK and Devon Air Ambulance.
