Henry Slade fractures ankle

Chiefs centre could be out for 6 to 8 weeks

Exeter Chiefs director of rugby Rob Baxter has confirmed that Henry Slade, 26, has a fractured his ankle and could face up to eight weeks on the sidelines.

It means Exeter's centre could miss the start of England's Six Nations campaign.

Slade picked up the nasty injury last weekend during the win against Leicester. Rob Baxter said: "Henry's got a small fracture in his ankle."

"It's around the site of the plate his head put in a couple of seasons ago when he fractured the same ankle against Wasps.

"The prognosis with a small fracture is 6 to eight weeks as a healing time. There's no information at this stage to say whether it will be quicker or slower."
