A driver had to be airlifted to hospital following a collision at Bickleigh Bridge.
Fire crews from Tiverton and Cullompton were called to the A396 on Tuesday following a request from the police.
One of the drivers had to be released using hydraulic rescue equipment and small tools before he was airlifted to hospital. A further casualty was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
