Boy attacked near Tarka Trail

Attempted robbery of 16-year-old

A teenage boy in Barnstaple has been assaulted and subjected to an attempted robbery.

The 16-year-old was attacked by two youths of a similar age near the entrance to the Tarka Trail, near Rumsam Road, in the town at around 9.50pm on Friday 4 June. Police have just released details and asked for witnesses to come forward.

The boy was approached by the two teenagers who assaulted him and attempted to take his wristwatch.  He was able to get away without his property being taken.

One of the suspects is white, aged 16 or 17 and about six feet tall, of average build and was wearing a black and grey tracksuit with the hood covering his face.

The second is described as dark-skinned and possibly of dual heritage, wearing a grey tracksuit and also aged roughly 16 or 17.
