Cashier assaulted in Torquay robbery

Two men have been arrested

Robbers armed with hammers have stolen alcohol in a raid on a shop in Torquay. 

Two men entered a commercial premises on Victoria Road at about 10pm on Tuesday 11 April, making threats and demanding money. Police are investigating this reported robbery and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The male cashier was assaulted with a hammer before the two suspects left the premises with several bottles of alcohol.

The cashier was treated in hospital for his injuries and was later discharged.

The police have said that two men have been arrested on suspicion of robbery. A 38-year-old man of no fixed abode has been released on police bail to return on Tuesday 11 July and a 33-year-old man from Torquay remains in police custody.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
