Devon and Cornwall police are holding a conference on modern-day slavery and human trafficking at their Exeter headquarters today.
The conference involves representatives from the Crown Prosecution Service, Border Agency, migrant worker experts and Victim Support, looking at how they can work together to identify victims and bring offenders to justice.
It comes soon after eight alleged victims were rescued from a house in Plymouth and a number of people were arrested, on suspicion of trafficking them into the UK for labour exploitation.
