Brittany Ferries recommence sailing

The first ferry link between Devon and Spain in eight months has taken place.

Brittany Ferries shop the Pont Aven sailed from Plynmouth to Santander on Sunday afternoon, packed with 450 vehicles and 850 passengers, many of whom were said to be second-homeowners.

That's only a fraction of the guests the Pont Aven can accommodate. It has a capacity of 2,400 passengers.

Nigel Wonnacott from Brittany Ferries said: "We are very excited and I know they are too...It's been a very tough time for the company and for our passengers...We are delighted to be back."

Spain is on the UK government's amber list, meaning that returning passengers have to quarantine on their return and take expensive covid tests.
