Actors & dancers needed

Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) is searching for local actors, dancers and movement artists to star in upcoming productions both on the Drum stage and in a series of outdoor pop-up performances across the city.

A selection of actors will get to perform in four brand new short plays as part of The 24 Hour Plays. Creatives will meet at TRP on Thursday 6 June to form four companies, each comprising of a writer, director and three actors.

The writers will then work overnight to write a brand-new 15-minute play.

The shortlisted actors will then arrive in the morning on Friday 7 June and work with a director to stage the new production that will be performed in The Drum that evening.

The second exciting opportunity is for emerging dancers and movement artists with an interest in the climate emergency, based in Plymouth and commutable areas available on 14-15 June.

TRP’s Resident Artist for Change, Natasha Pavey, has developed a project to amplify TRP’s recent declaration of a Climate and Ecological Emergency with Culture Declares.

To bring the concept to life, TRP, together with Jerwood Arts, is looking for eight dancers of varying disciplines and backgrounds who are just starting and are interested in exploring the use of the arts as a call to action.

The project will be led by two professional dance artists with Movement Director and TRP Associate Director, Tom Jackson Greaves.

The company will then collaborate and devise a co-created short pop-up outdoor performance piece which will be performed across Plymouth City Centre on 15 June and filmed as part of a documentary.

The unique opportunities are for those looking to build their practice portfolio and create connections with a leading organisation and artists in the South West. Training and out-of-pocket expenses will be paid.

Dancers applying for the outdoor pop-up performances should contact natasha.pavey@theatreroyal.com with a brief overview of portfolio and/or CV, and why they are interested in taking part by Wednesday 22 May.

To apply for the 24-Hour Plays, please submit a CV and/or Spotlight link to talent.development@theatreroyal.com.

Please note, actors must be 18 and over.
