Devon's firefighters now deal with more medical emergencies than fires - and are being given special vehicles to help.
Many fire stations now act jointly with the ambulance service - going to high-priority calls and giving initial treatment before paramedics arrive.
Dawlish fire station, which attended more than 560 such calls last year, is now the first to receive a specially-equipped car.
Bob Walker from the fire service says the new vehicles are better than the small vans they previously used.
